About

"99ALLiNS is pioneering his own style of mashup - call it the 'lyrical mashup.' Inspired by hip-hop dance, he deftly weaves stories out of popular beats and lyrics. Smooth and stylish, 99ALLiNS elevates the mashup to a whole new level."

Who is 99ALLiNS?

In short, I'm just a boy that likes playing with music. My purpose here is to create stories that you can listen and shake your booty to over and over again. I mean no harm or offense to any of the artists whose tracks I use - in most cases they are hits on their own. In a few fun cases, I intentionally pick intolerable tracks and set out on a mission to make it the most wonderful thing you've ever heard.

Okay really who is 99?

Twenty-something college graduate living in NYC. Academically trained mechanical engineer. Self-taught creative media enthusiast. Aside from music, I dabble in graphic design and video editing. Currently looking to make some serious bank...

I picked up music mixing in college out of curiosity and practiced it whenever I had a good idea and some free time. If I could, I'd make a sick mix and music video every week for you to groove to, but unfortunately I have other things to keep up with as well. So subscribe, follow, like, thumbs up, or just check back periodically to get the latest in exclusive ear-candy. Feel free to drop me a line to see if I'm up to anything.

How?

The process goes a little something like this:

  1. Ideation - Typically I start with a song or group of songs I like and try to form a sweet concept or story around it. Steps 1 and 2 usually take up the most time.
  2. Experimentation - Once I have a interesting concept in mind, I start combining the music and lyrics of tracks with one another to find which ones mingle well and successfully form a theme.
  3. Drafting - I outline the structure of the mix, and proceed to chop up, alter and arrange tracks to my liking. I usually mixdown (or render) several drafts for others to peer review - working with others makes the process so much more fun.
  4. Fine tuning - After getting feedback and/or taking a short break, I take a fresh look at the mashup-in-progress and stack on the style points during my revisions - effects, mastering, volume and panning.
  5. Release - The mashup is compressed to mp3 format and delivered here for you to enjoy.

I use:
Sony ACID Pro - for arranging, effects
Adobe Audition - for compression, effects
Sony Vegas Pro - for video editing

I've got a great idea.

I'd love to hear it! Drop me a line and I'll see what we can do.
